A road trip with Volkswagen T1 Bulli

Recently, Jasmin Mueller, a member of the Froxx Classics family, went on a road trip. So, I asked her a few questions about that trip.

Where did you go for the trip?

We started by going to Heidelberg, a town in Southwest Germany. From there, we travelled to Berlin. After that, we went to Müritz, a lake in Northern Germany. However, the weather got worse, so we went to the beautiful city of Dresden. All in all, the trip lasted around 10 days.

Can you tell me a little bit about the car?

So, the car- or rather van- that we took on the trip was an old Volkswagen T1 Bulli, which is around 70 years old. We bought it from a family friend who had always taken care of the van and wanted to give it to someone who would take just as good care of the van, and we feel lucky to have been chosen.

What was the best moment of the trip?

On a trip like this, there were so many great moments. Because of this fascinating bus, you can invite friends on the campsite, you talk to a lot of people and have many interesting conversations. Since the bus is also very popular amongst the campers, you can get some free drinks for a photo!

What was the best place that you drove the car?

I think the best pace on this whole trip was Dresden. It is a beautiful city, and despite being in the middle of the city, the campground where we stayed was calm and quiet.

Was it a good car for a road trip?

This was a perfect car for a trip like this. It has pretty much everything you need for a few days on the road, but it isn’t massive, so it’s quite easy to find parking spaces. And everyone at campsites loved it as much as we did.
