For the registration of imported vehicles without EC type approval, the legislator in Germany requires an expert opinion for the issuance of an individual operating permit. For this purpose, an individual acceptance according to §21 StVO, EBE and oldtimer expert appraisal is required.

With the historic license plate, you save on both vehicle tax and vehicle insurance. In addition, you can drive without a catalytic converter and in environmental zones without a sticker. However, you can still obtain the H license plate after purchase - for this, the classic car requires a valid general inspection, an expert opinion on the original condition and good preservation, and proof that the first registration was at least 30 years ago.
