Tips for your campervan trip this summer

It’s already summer! That time of the year where the sun is out, the rain is gone and you finally have time to take that trip you wanted to take in your new (or old) VW T2 Camper. Well fear not, because here is a list of essentials to do before you leave on your incredible trip.

Servicing

Perhaps one of the most important to-dos before starting your trip is to get your camper serviced. Make sure everything is in top shape, wheels are inflated, engine oil is topped up and brakes are replaced. You don’t want to be halfway to your destination, only for your engine to fail on you!

Cleaning

If you only use your camper occasionally, it’s probably likely that it has gotten dirty and dusty inside. Before leaving, try to get your camper as clean as possible. Wash the exterior so that you can take some beautiful pictures for your socials! Cleaning out the interior with a vacuum cleaner and some fabric shampoo and leather wipes can go a long way to helping your camper feel like a home away from home.

Pack only the essentials

The T2 camper is a big vehicle, but there’s only so much stuff you can pack into it. Pack some clothes and toiletries, along with other stuff like: phone chargers, power banks, flashlights, towels and maybe some books to read. You should also pack a fire lighting kit if you’re planning on some campfires. Also, remember to pack plenty of snacks for the journey!

Where to camp

While you could simply decide to camp in a field, its probably better to choose a proper place to camp. The best place to camp is, unsurprisingly, a camping ground. These places have barbeques, toilets, showers and sometimes even playgrounds if the little ones get bored. However, before leaving you should try to contact the grounds, as sometimes you will have to reserve a spot due to high demand. Also, keep in mind that you may have to plan for contingencies if the grounds where you wanted to camp are full. Research the area before starting as there may be other places where you can stop with your camper.
